How to plan, import and ride your exact route with RouteHold.

Import a route

RouteHold rides the exact route you plan. Export your route as a GPX file from your planner, or paste a Google Maps link, then open it with RouteHold to import it. See the export guide for step by step help getting a file out of popular planners.

Marking Stop Points

Select any waypoints where you ACTUALLY WANT TO STOP as stop points. RouteHold will direct you back to them. Keep them as waypoints and RouteHold will ride past them without bugging you to press any buttons

Check your Route / Make it Offline / Check traffic

clicking 'Preview on Map' from the route overview screen loads the map overview:

In this view you can see the entire route, the start point (green triangle) the end point (red Square) and any waypoints (orange circles) and stop points (red circles).

If the route has not been downloaded you will see a 'Make available offline' button. In this case the route is already offline. Making a route available offline downloads the route, the map segments around the route, and the turn by turn directions to your phone.

Clicking 'Check traffic' will give you a current view of the traffic on your route and an estimated delay (see below). Clicking 'Ride route' will start navigation.

Ride your route

Open the route and tap Ride Now. RouteHold follows your planned line turn by turn, and if you leave the route it guides you back to it rather than sending you a different way.

The Skip button is only needed for stop points. If you arrive at a stop point RouteHold will hold you there until you press the skip button. By default, RouteHold imports any waypoint as a waypoint (not a stop point). RouteHold will ride past a waypoint and will continue the route without asking you to confirm.

The fuel button will find you the nearest petrol station on or close to your route that will be open when you get there. (We rely on third party data for this, so it should be open but we can't guarantee it!)

Clicking 'Divert' will route you to the petrol station, then will route you back to your original route

Pressing 'Skip fuel' while diverting to fuel will route you back to your original route.

The bottom speed disc shows the recorded speed limit for the road you are riding. (Again, we rely on third party data for this), the upper number shows your current speed.

The bottom panel shows the distance to your next waypoint (or petrol station if you are diverting) and the distance to the end of your route. You can either show the arrival time, or the travel time left for both the waypoint and the route (configurable in the settings menu)

Ride offline

Make a route available offline before you set off. RouteHold downloads the route, the map around it and the voice directions to your phone, so all it needs on the road is a GPS signal. (It does use Mobile data to find the nearest petrol station, and to give you turn by turn directions if you stray more than 3Km from your route)

Multi- Day routes

RouteHold supports routes that cover multiple days. Ride you your overnight stop and exit navigation. Re start navigation in the morning and RouteHold will continue the route from where you are.

Tip: mark your overnight stops as Stop Points. - If you then drive past your overnight stop by accident, RouteHold will route you back to it.
